Sunscreen and Men

Sunscreen is not just a women thing. Everyone is prone to sun damage. Men also get affected by harmful UVA, UVB, IR sun rays and urban pollution. The use of sunscreen is almost every gentleman’ concern these days. When men are in the 20s and 30s, they are usually very active, participating in a number of outdoor activities. Most men near this age group pay little attention to the need for sunscreen. UVA, UVB and IR rays are dangerous. UVA rays deeply penetrate into the skin-damaging the fibres in our skin (collagen), while UVB rays mostly affect the outer layer of skin causing sunburns & tanning.

The pollution particles in air love sliding onto our face. Some bind to the fats in our skin, while others are small enough to slip in through our pores. We can’t avoid it, but can take steps to shield skin from its harmful effects. It doesn’t matter if you’re young – you’ll see the damage – some of you sooner than later. As you age, you’ll find all hallmarks of sun damage in your skin.

Only 14% of men use sunscreen regularly and this is far less than women.
This behavior makes them more susceptible to sunburn and sun damage, which can further cause pigmentation and aging of skin.

The essential skin proteins, such as collagen, keratin, and elastin are protected by sunscreen. These proteins are required for keeping the skin healthy. Make sure your sun block has essential ingredients in it for endowing these benefits to the skin. All the symptoms can be corrected and avoided with a selection of appropriate and
