Sunlight is the light and energy that comes from sun. It is the major source of energy on earth. The sun contributes to our well being and also offers a good dose of Vitamin D. What we experience as sunlight is actually solar radiation. These solar radiations are in the form of UV (ultraviolet) and IR (infrared) rays.
Sunlight as friend
The sun is that beautiful star we all love for brightening our days. Without sunlight, there could be no life on Earth. Plants need sunlight for the process of photosynthesis. During photosynthesis the plants use the energy of the sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide, to create glucose (sugar). The glucose can later be used by the plant for energy or animals eat the plant and the glucose in it.
Sunlight as foe
Human beings use sunlight for making their own vitamin D. But too much of this sunlight can act as the foe for a human body. Too much sun exposure can put your skin at risk. The UV rays can damage your skin in two different ways. UVA rays deeply penetrate into the skin-damaging the fibers in your skin called elastin and collagen causing wrinkles, age spots, scaly patches and even possibility of cancer. While UVB rays mostly affect the outer layer of the skin causing sunburns and tanning. The harmful UV rays from the sun also generate damaging free radicals (oxidants) that leads to premature aging.
The famous saying “excess of everything is bad” remind us to don’t take excess of sunlight in sake of vitamin D , there are so many sources of vitamin D like Fatty fish, like tuna, mackerel, salmon, dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, cereals, Beef Liver, Egg yolks and Cheese. So left the sunlight for earth you should use it wisely.
Whenever you are outside in sun, use a broad spectrum gel based sunscreen giving complete protection from UVA, UVB & IR, antioxidant &
a hat & sunglasses and cover up your skin with clothing.
