Ways to Remove Pimple Marks

Acne is a common skin disease or a skin condition that affects around 9.3% of the world population. Almost all of us are affected by acne at some point in our lifetime.

But there is a difference between acne and pimples. Pimples are one of the symptoms of acne.

It occurs when sebaceous/oil glands attached to the hair follicles are stimulated due to hormonal changes or due to puberty. Sebum (oil), a natural substance that lubricates and protects the surface of the skin. Skin cells mature in association with the increased oil production, inducing them to plug the pore of the hair follicle. This plug can appear as a whitehead, and when exposed to the air, it becomes darker and is called a blackhead.

A bump is produced when the plugged hair follicle is enlarged. The enlargement of the follicles may rupture the walls that allow normal skin bacteria and other irritating substances to enter deeper into the skin, ultimately producing inflammation.

  • Honey and lemon juice

Honey is said to have antiseptic for the body and skin. Honey helps in reducing the pimple marks fasters and also contributes to the body's healing process. It is one of the best methods to moisturize the skin naturally and it also prevents the production of excess sebum. It also removes the dead skin cells present in the clogged pores.

As we all know, lemon is acidic in nature and possesses antibacterial properties. This property relieves the skin from excess oil and also fights bacteria.

  • Coconut oil

The high content of lauric acid in coconut helps to kill bacteria, that causes pimples. Coconut oil increases the moisture level of the skin and reduces the pimple marks. It also prevents the skin from producing too much sebum.

People with oily skin should avoid the use of coconut oil as it may worsen the condition by clogging the pores.

  • Turmeric

Turmeric mask can also help to reduce the pimple marks and is also helpful to reduce the pimples. The anti-inflammatory properties of the turmeric calms the skin and targets the pores. It also prevents breakouts.

The antioxidant property of turmeric slows down the natural process of ageing. Also, turmeric is a very good option for people having sensitive skin.

  • Aloe vera

Aloe vera is an admired home remedy that soothes the skin, Aloe vera is most commonly used to heal minor cuts, sunburn and rashes. It is equally effective in the treatment of pimple marks. Aloin which is the active ingredient, present in aloe vera that reduces the hyperpigmentation in pimple scars. It works by reducing the overproduction of melanin (skin-dark pigment) that makes the pimple marks more visible.

  • Essential oils

Essential oils help in pimple marks removal by regenerating the cells of the damaged skin. Some of the essentials also have wound healing properties, that prevents marks or scar-forming tissue.

One can use a single or combination of essential oils to reduce the marks caused by pimple marks. Carrot seed oil, tea tree oil, and cedarwood are some of the essential oils.

Tips:

  • Combining a teaspoon of baking soda with apple cider vinegar and water and applying the paste to the affected area is one of effective methods to lighten  the pimple marks.
  • Both salicylic acid and lactic acid are also good for pimple and pimple marks. Lactic acid fades the dark pimple marks whereas salicylic acid loosens the dirt from pores.
  • Ice pick scars are severe and they cannot be treated at home.

How to prevent pimple marks?

The most effortless and effectual way of minimizing the pimple marks is not squeezing or picking up the pimples. It only increases the risk of getting scars. Squeezing the pimples will incense them as bacteria and dirt on the nails and hands that will transfer on your skin.

Popping out the pimples increases the risk of spreading of the leaking pus that surges the chances of spread of the acne bacteria.

Way to prevent pimple marks:

You have only to clean your face with an oil-free foaming cleanser. One should also apply a good oil-free mattifying moisturizer after washing the face with the cleanser. If you have to go out in the sun don't forget to apply a sunscreen that has at least SPF 30 and a gel-based sunscreen of at least SPF 50 from UVA protection if one has to stay for longer hours out in the sun.

Always try to reapply the sunscreen every 2-3 hours. The UV radiation emitted from the sun penetrates into deep layers of the skin and is responsible for breaking down the collagen which results in hyperpigmentation, scars and marks. A good retinol cream also helps to prevent the marks.
